Oval House is a charming 17th Century family home in shadow of Downside Abbey on the beautiful Mendip Hills. Situated on the ancient Roman built Fosse Way, it makes an ideal base for visiting Bath, Wells, Glastonbury, Cheddar, Longleat, Stourhead etc. There are excellent pubs nearby, some within walking distance, including the oldest pub in England. The area is steeped in history and three famous nursery rhymes draw their inspiration from it. Stratton-on-the-Fosse is 20 minutes SW of Bath on the A367. From Bath, Oval House is white and two houses beyond 'King's Arms' on the left opposite Downside entrance. Park in small square just beyond. English Tourist Board rating 3 Diamonds.
