Nestling The South Downs, this 1765 Coaching Inn combines excellent cuisine, award-winning wine lists & superior rooms. The newly opened 8 en suite rooms continue the high standards, providing comfort, relaxation and indulgence.
WE ARE OPEN FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS CHRISTMAS. COME AND STOP. RELAX AND UNWIND WITH US ... JUST A FEW PLACES LEFT! Whether sitting in front of our two large open fires, listening to carols, having a massage, or sampling mince pies and clotted cream, we want your stay to be a relaxing one taking in the atmosphere of this festive time and our surrounding beautiful Sussex countryside. The White Horse has many years experience of providing excellence through its food and wine. In the Chilgrove restaurant, the menu features local and seasonal specialities including partridge, lobster and Seabass. The pub bar offers similar food, again of high quality, in less formal surroundings. For the past 17 years, the Inn has earned the prestigious Wine Spectator Quality of Excellence Award (reflecting its two wine lists of over 600 labels). In November and April the Inn holds Wine and Gourmet Evenings. Each of the new 8 double/twin/single bedrooms have been built to reflect today's standards. Tucked behind the main building, they have their own entrances, firm super-king sized beds, CD facilities, wooden floors, rugs, central heating, TV, direct dial phone, tea/coffee making facilities and more. Five have powerful showers, three have baths (with shower facilities). Reflexology, aromatherapy or sports massage can be arranged by appointment and availability. The deluxe continental breakfast hamper is served to your room, (in bed if you wish) or in the garden, weather permitting. All rooms are non-smoking. Whether a passing visit, a weekend break or longer holiday, a special occasion or simply quality dining, The White Horse aims to provide you with an experience you will savour. In the winter months, the Inn is closed on Sunday evenings and all day Monday except by arrangement for private parties.
