 Set in three acres of secluded gardens, the Bedford Lodge Hotel is a striking combination of the classic and the new, possessing an ambiance and character of its own.
The Georgian hunting lodge which sets the style for the complex was built for the Duke of Bedford in the late 18th century and converted for use as a hotel after the Second World War. Recent developments, made in keeping with the existing style, have provided more accommodation, conference and banqueting facilities, so that the hotel is now one of the best-appointed in East Anglia. Pervading the entire complex is a feeling of informality and warmth. Our newly refurbished and relocated restaurant is one of the regions finest, where you will find the atmosphere relaxing and the service impeccable. Throughout the Bedford Lodge you will find references to Newmarket's unique racing heritage; a picture of Roxana, the most famous mare in 18th century England hangs in the hotel. The 'Sport of Kings' theme is carried through to the hotel's fifty-six luxurious bedrooms, all of which are named after racecourses across Britain. Seven of these rooms provide a lounge area in addition to the standard en-suite facilities.
