Landlord Del Tilling first came to Sheffield in the early 1990s and caused a stir with the revamped Hillsborough Barracks Hotel (now known by its original name of The New Barracks Tavern). After a brief spell doing a similar makeover at the Railway in Donnington Del has returned with his latest venture, The Hillsborough Hotel. Formerly The Wellington (and before that The Hero and His Horse), this ex-Gilmours pub has been reinvented as a residential bed & breakfast hotel. Not content with a mere hotel Del has redesigned the bar and now sells a wide range of real ales. Although the range of beer is drawn from all around the country Del always stocks several beers from local microbreweries including Abbeydale, Barnsley and Wentworth. Del's weekly featured brewery has become a popular attraction and, along with a wide selection of meals, has made an excellent place to meet and socialise. A recent addition to Sunday evenings is live acoustic music from local blues and folk artists.
