This small personally Run Restaurant and Town House Hotel is situated in the pretty market town of Uppingham, Dominated by the famous Uppingham School and close to Rutland Water.
The entrance to the building, which dates back to the 18th Century, is via a quiet courtyard where a wonderful display of flowering tubs and hanging baskets greets you. In winter sit in the bar where a log fire burns or relax in the upstairs lounge which overlooks the High Street. In the bedroom, each named after a wine growing region in France and all of which are en suite, guests will find fresh fruit, home-made biscuits and a decanter of sherry. Those in the courtyard are cottage-style suites. Under the personal direction of Richard & Janine Burton, the Restaurant offers a regular changing menu using fresh ingredients from far afield. There is an extensive wine list of more than 200 wines ranging from regional labels to old clarets. Special 'Wine Dinners' are held throughout the year, enabling guests to appreciate this unique cellar.
