Moffat House Hotel is a gracious three storey John Adam mansion, built in the 1750's.
Set in 2.5 acres of grounds, yet in Moffat main square. Originally built for the Earl of Hopetoun, the charm and elegance have been retained through careful modernisation. Passing between the old sandstone pillars and up the beautiful cantilevered staircase, Moffat House has 20 bedrooms all en-suite, and a self-contained cottage. Whatever your requirements, Moffat House will have what you need. The food at Moffat House is quite simply first rate and awards are being gathered every year. From formal dining in Hopetoun's Restaurant to informal lounge meals, lunches and suppers, be assured fresh local produce and home cooking are at work to satisfy the most discerning of palates. A fine selection of wines will compliment your meal but don't feel restricted to any list as there is always a pleasant surprise in the hotel's cellar. In addition to the modestly priced wines, the Library Bar will spoil you for choice with a good selection of malt whiskies and beers. Hospitality and hostmanship are alive at Moffat House, and to assist in making you more comfortable, log fires blaze through chilly winter evenings in the Lounge Bar and Coffee Lounge. The Coffee Lounge to the rear of the hotel also provides the comfort to admire the gardens, lawns, summer blossoms and 200 year-old oak tree. This year Moffat House has developed the Moffat House Hotel Cottage. This self-contained cottage serviced by the hotel comprises a lounge/bedroom, private en suite facilities and a kitchen. Ideal for the disabled as this facility is on the ground floor at hotel level.
