Oakwood Park Hotel

Oakwood Park Hotel is an imposing Victorian house built in 1861, a private residence till 1914, then converted into a Military Hospital until 1919, pictures of this are seen on the walls of the hotel.
Oakwood was converted into a hotel in 1982 but has still kept its Victorian appearance inside and out, especially the boxed hedge vegetable garden. The rest of the ten acres which surrounds the hotel is pasture and woods where livestock, which are all pets, are free to roam.
The walled gardens are ideal to unwind and relax in after a hard day touring.
The hotel has full central heating, television, tea and coffee making facilities in all the bedrooms, which are en-suite.
The appetising cuisines is traditional but frequently adventurous, the majority of the vegetables are organically grown and are brought from the garden to table. The wine list is extensive.
Guests can enjoy good food in a tranquil and un-hurried atmosphere, or relax in the comfortable residents lounge or bar.
A convenient centre for visiting the beautiful English lakes and the peaceful hills of the Borders and Southern Scotland. It is only a few mile from the fascination of Hadrian's Wall and the cathedral city of Carlisle.
